2026 Flag Season Overview Guide
Your 2026 Flag Football Family Guide Is Here
The 2026 flag football season is almost here — and to help every family hit the ground running, we've put together the 2026 Flag Football Family Guide, a four-page reference covering everything you need for the season ahead.
Whether this is your first season with the Chiefs or your fourth, this guide answers the questions we hear most: when practices start, where games are played, what to bring to the parent meeting, and how to stay connected all season long.
Download the guide below, and here's a look at what's inside.
First Practices & Parent Meetings
The season kicks off the first week of August at North Lake School:
- PeeWee (1st–2nd grade): Tuesday, August 4 at 5:30 PM
- Junior (3rd–4th grade): Thursday, August 6 at 5:30 PM
A parent meeting for each division will be held at 5:35 PM at the concession shed on your first practice night. Please bring $100 cash or check — payable to Lake Country Youth Football Inc. — for our Calendar Raffle Fundraiser. In return, your athlete receives a pack of 10 raffle tickets.
Practice & Game Day Basics
PeeWee practices Tuesdays and Junior practices Thursdays, both from 5:30–6:30 PM. Games are played Saturday mornings at North Lake School — PeeWee kicks off at 8:15 AM and Junior at 9:45 AM.
The guide also covers practice locations for the first three weeks of the season and what to expect if your team's coach proposes a more centrally located practice site after picture day.
Every Key Date on One Page
From Dick's Sporting Goods Discount Days (July 24–26) through picture nights, the first games on August 29, Chiefs Night at the Arrowhead varsity game on September 18, and final games on October 10 — the full season calendar is laid out in one easy-to-scan table.
The Calendar Raffle Fundraiser
New this year: daily cash drawings all September long, with prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000. The guide walks through how it works, your options for selling or keeping your tickets, and the stub return dates for each division. You can also read the full fundraiser announcement here.
Volunteering
If you didn't register as a coach or purchase the volunteer buyout, you're required to volunteer this season. The guide breaks down your options — concession stand duty and refereeing — including the requirements for PeeWee and Junior games and a tip for making sure you never miss watching your athlete play.
What's Next
Head coaches will be sharing rosters with families in the next 7–10 days. Once that process is complete, rosters will be uploaded into the Crossbar app, where you'll have access to your full schedule and direct communication with your coaching staff and other team families. If you haven't downloaded Crossbar yet, now is the time.
One Last Thing
This league is, first and foremost, about fun. We don't keep score and we don't track standings — these athletes are in 1st through 4th grade, and it's supposed to be a great experience for every one of them. Keep that in mind when you're cheering them on Saturday mornings.
We can't wait to see everyone out at North Lake.
Go Chiefs.
